Books to Purchase
High school and college reading require mastery of a complex set of skills including close reading, in-text annotation, vocabulary, evidence collection, analysis. The books required for English 1 may be purchased new or used from a local bookstore or from an on-line source. Paperback editions are recommended as students will be highlighting and writing on the pages of the books. The books must be in class by the due dates listed; if purchasing the books poses as problem for you, see me immediately and I’ll help you find a solution.

· AAEC Planner
· Pen (only black or dark blue ink are acceptable)
· Pencil with an eraser
· Highlighter
· A multi-class LARGE 3-ring notebook w/a tab for “English” OR a 1” 3-ring binder for English only
· Class handouts (these are to be kept in your 3-ring notebook throughout the semester)
· College-ruled white paper
